- When you get injured, you want two things:

- These are natural solutions to help heal an injury in record time, and keep it from turning into a chronic condition.
1) Turmeric
2) Ginger
3) Non Weight Bearing Range of Motion Exercise
4) Epsom Salt Baths
5) Heat/Ice-Used with proper timing
6) Doctor
- Turmeric – Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory that has been shown to be more powerful than Ibuprofen and aspirin (1). Along with its anti-inflammatory benefits, it has no known negative side effects. Along with this, it has been shown to be an effective pain reliever. In early 2014, the European Journal of Pharmacology published research that discovered curcumin naturally activates the opioid system in diabetic rats. Typically manipulated by drugs, this natural process serves as the body’s inherent pain-relieving response. (42) (Dr. Axe) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15489888
2) Ginger – Ginger has been used in China for thousands of years for an anti-inflammatory and pain relief. Web MD recommends Ginger as a natural treatment for pain. The study, published in The Journal of Pain, showed a daily dose of ginger eased muscle pain caused by exercise-induced muscle injury. Ginger like Tumeric has been used for thousands of years.
3) Non Weight Bearing Range of Motion-Movement is critical to create normal blood flow and muscle and ligament stretching. Moving through a comfortable pain free range of motion can speed up recovery time. But beware, avoid doing weightbearing on the injured area as it may put too much strain on the injured joint. This is also why non weight bearing exercises are performed after surgery.
4) Epsom Salt Baths- Epsom salt baths have shown to be beneficial with muscle pain, swelling, sprains, and even arthritis. This has less research to back it up, but has been utilized by many physicians.
5) Heat – Heat has been shown to be especially beneficial to chronic pain. It is NOT recommended for acute pain or swelling, but since chronic pain is a sign of incomplete or improper healing, heat can help to bring extra blood to the area to heal it. Heat also improves tissues elasticity or its ability to stretch.
6) Chiropractic/Physical Therapy – Having a professional to guide you through your healing process is the BEST advice I can give. We understand better than anyone what and how to strengthen and align the body for optimal healing. Just like when your car has problems, you take it to a mechanic. When your body has issues, take it to your health specialist. Because remember, the only difference between a car and your health, is you can replace a car.
